Cancer
Information and resources for GPs
Patient information
Cancer is a condition where cells in a specific part of the body grow and reproduce uncontrollably. There's more information about cancer on the NHS website.
If you are displaying cancer symptoms, your GP will refer you to hospital to be seen within two weeks. You can download an “easy-read” patient leaflet which explains the two-week-wait process, here. Please be aware, the majority of patients referred under the 'two week wait' system have a simple condition and do not have cancer.
However, if you are subsequently diagnosed with cancer, a number of organisations provide support including Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK (other charities which offer support for people diagnosed with specific cancers are also at hand - search online).
Information and guidance on Mesothelioma Cancer can be found here.
