Minor Eye Conditions Service

The Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS) is a free NHS service available from a number of local opticians, which sees patients with problems such as sore eyes, red eyes or visual disturbance.  The service can be accessed by anyone aged two years of age or older and registered with a GP in the Vale of York or Scarborough and Ryedale.  Patients can self-refer to the service and will be assessed and treated within 24 hours for urgent symptoms and 48 hours for non-urgent symptoms.
