NHS Scarborough and Ryedale Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is a clinically-led organisation representing 12 GP practices based in the Scarborough and Ryedale area. We replaced the former Primary Care Trust (NHS North Yorkshire and York) which was divided into four CCGs, with NHS Scarborough and Ryedale CCG being one of them.
On 1 April 2013, our CCG took full control of commissioning (buying) healthcare services to meet the needs of around 119,000 local residents. During our development we identified a number of health priorities and developed an overarching commissioning strategy. We continue to work with local clinicians and the wider public to establish the best way to deliver the objectives of this strategy and ultimately improve the health and wellbeing of local residents.
Compared to the former Primary Care Trust, our CCG is a relatively small organisation and our headquarters are located within Scarborough Borough Council's Offices in Scarborough town centre.
Knowing our population
The CCG uses the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) to understand the needs of the local population, you can find our report here. There is also a Scaborough district summary in the North Yorkshire Joint Strategic Needs Assesment Annual Update, here.
