Right care, first time

If you become unwell or are injured it is important to choose the right NHS service to make sure you get the most appropriate treatment. Choosing the right care, first time means that you and your family will get the best treatment available to you. It also allows busy NHS services to help the people who need them most.

Choosing the wrong service for your health needs can not only result in poor experiences in terms of having to access multiple services before finally getting the care you need, but can also lead to people using emergency services unnecessarily.  This can lead to real problems for emergency services having to deal with excessive numbers of patients.

We have developed a range of materials to help you make the right decision on which services you choose based on your symptoms. We have tried to make it as simple as possible for you by colour coding each service:

Help and advice
General care
Urgent care
Emergency care

Please think about which option is best for you. Choosing the right care, first time means you will get the best treatment and allows busy NHS services to help the people who need them most.
